New Project (1)_edited.png

As a kid I fished with my family, especially my grandfather.
We fished for everything, from garfish to jewfish, bream, flathead, bonito and kingfish.  My family taught me a love of the outdoors being out in nature.

As I grew older I started trying to challenge myself more and more. My grandfather and I would spend countless weekends and school holidays live baiting the Royal National Park and surrounds from the stones.

Watching fishing shows on tv began to get me curious about lure fishing, my grandfather had rarely done much of it with me. One day while live baiting the south coast I decided to give it a go, I thought I’d throw a squid jig around. Leaving the ledge with 3 squid that day left me so proud. Every time I went live baiting from then on I’d throw a squid jig around, you could say I was hooked.

A month or so later my grandfather bought me a light graphite rod and I joined the soft plastics craze and fished from the boat flicking rubbers for flathead in the Hawkesbury river. One day I was at the news agent and the cover of fishing world caught my eye. A guy holding a tuna he had caught from the stones, with a metal lure. I read the article, I was amazed it was possible to catch such a fish from the rocks on a live bait, let alone a lure!

I had to give this a go!!!

I slowly began fishing for salmon from the rock, I loved it, I had found my passion. Casting metal lures from the shore and cranking them back at warp speed to feel that grinding halt when a fish would crash the lure. More and more I focused on trying to get bigger and bigger fish. Finally I set a goal, I was going to catch a tuna from the rocks on a lure. It took me three years but I finally achieved my goal. A 12kg tuna hit the deck after an exhilarating fight.

As my skill improved I began to lose less and less lures to the dreaded rocks. I began to realise the lures I was using just weren’t lasting. These cheap metals were made very inconsistently and all had varying actions. I was working in an electroplating shop so I decided I’d try my hand at making my own lures. Once I did I never looked back, the lures I was making were everything I wanted, they had the cast-ability, action, flutter and importantly they lasted against the rugged environment of the salt water and rocks.

There just wasn’t a single quality metal on the market, sure they might look good but they just didn’t last. I knew I had the knowledge with over 10 years of electroplating experience to make a quality chrome plated metal lure that would last. I also knew I had developed the fishing experience to create a shape that would work well in the water.

I decided I’d give it a go and make a few, what I believe to be the best high quality hand-made Australian metal lure on the market coupled with the finest Japanese treble hooks from shout.

Death to all but Metal!
